Our Lathe Department
Our production lathe department has a wide variety of equipment so we can choose the most efficient machining process to make your parts quickly. We have several types of machines, including chuck, collet, and swiss styles. We have chuck machines ranging from 6” to 12” chucks. We also have collet machines with capacity up to 2”. Our swiss machining capabilities can handle bar up to .75” diameter, and have full milling capabilities as well as sub spindle pick up for complete machining. We also have several standard lathes with live tooling, sub spindles, and Y axis for full milling capabilities. We specialize in small to medium sized parts of any complexity, and can hold tolerances of .0001” (.0025mm).

The lathe department uses many of the same types of machines as the job shop, so if we made your prototype parts in the job shop, we can easily set them up to run production in the lathe department when the time comes. This seamless transition helps to ensure that, your production parts will look like your prototypes. We can also make small changes quickly, because we use the same software in the job shop and lathe department.

Our Experience
We purchased our first CNC lathe in 1986, and now we have more than 20. We are known for our ability to machine complex parts that require special fixtures, jaws, or collets. Our CAM software allows us to quickly and accurately program complex profiles for turning and boring, and we also have the ability to grind or wire EDM custom form tools in house. In addition, we offer many related processes, such as centerless grinding, cylindrical grinding, and honing.

We document every job, by saving the programs, setup sheets, and digital pictures of each setup. Included in that information are any deburring and finishing notes. We also keep a tooling pack, that contains any custom fixtures, or special tools that are required for the job. We have integrated all of this into our shop management software, so all of the information is linked to the job in our MRP system, and backed up on our network, as well as off site. All of this documentation allows us to quickly set up your job in the future, and helps us to guarantee consistent part quality from one run to the next.
